People always assume that once a Toyota Dyna has passed 300,000 km, it’s basically worth nothing but scrap. I wasn’t sure that was actually true, so I had a look online, went through Trade Me and AutoTrader listings and pulled together what these things have actually been selling for. Turns out the assumption’s a bit off.
Here’s what’s actually sold, going back to ’93:

What stood out to me: once you’re over about 300,000km, the odometer basically stops mattering. A 2012 with 318,000km on the clock sold for $19,999, not far off trucks with half that mileage. And a 406,000km one only went for a couple of grand less than a 2009 with 187,600km. Once a Dyna’s “high mileage,” buyers seem to treat it as one big bucket rather than caring whether it’s 320,000 or 400,000km.
