NCP Limited – Privacy Notice

NCP Limited is authorised to access information from the New Zealand Motor Vehicle Register (MVR) for lawful business purposes in accordance with applicable legislation and NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) requirements.

Purpose of Access

We access MVR information solely to verify vehicle ownership before purchasing vehicles. As part of our business, we buy wrecked, unwanted, and end-of-life vehicles for dismantling and wrecking purposes.

To ensure that vehicles are purchased from the legitimate registered owner:

• We may request identification (such as a driver’s licence) from the person selling the vehicle
• We cross-check this information against the Motor Vehicle Register using Motochek
• This process is used strictly to confirm ownership prior to completing a purchase

If ownership cannot be verified or does not match, the transaction will not proceed.

Use of Information

Information obtained from the Motor Vehicle Register is:

• Used only for ownership verification purposes
• Accessed only by an authorised individual within NCP Limited
• Not shared, disclosed, or used for any unrelated purpose

Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

• Request access to personal information held about you
• Request correction of your personal information

Opt-Out Information

Individuals may choose to opt out of having their personal details made available on the Motor Vehicle Register. If you have opted out, certain information may not be available to us, which may affect our ability to complete a transaction.
