Yes, every Toyota Wish currently listed for sale is petrol. I went through the listings ourselves. Not a single hybrid. Not one diesel. All petrol, all Japanese imports. The hybrid version does exist; Toyota made it for the Japanese domestic market. But it never arrived here in any real numbers. If you’ve been searching for a Wish hybrid in NZ, you can stop. It’s not here.
What is here is a solid, practical 7-seater that’s held up well over the years. Prices range from around $2,650 for a high-km 2003 model up to nearly $17,000 for a low-km 2012. The sweet spot sits around 2012–2014, you’re getting under 55,000 km in some cases, still under $15k.
One thing to watch: mileage swings prices hard on older models. Two 2009 Wishes can be $7,000 apart purely based on km.
